Prophet
A modern game setting

Concept

 Prophet in it's original conception was a means to allow me to set a game in late 2020.

It's basic ruleset is a modified Palladium ruleset, and as such you'll need a copy of one of the Palladium games. For a modern setting I would recommend Ninja's and Superspies™ and/or Beyond the Supernatural™ coupled with the Compendium of Contemporary Weapons.

The method of character generation was inspired by Beyond the Supernatural™ but is not compatible with it. Feel free to modify the Skills Progam and Wealth  Tables to suit you own games.

You will need access to the full Expanded Skills list. I have caveated skills by specific game/setting (something else Palladium do not do). About 80% of the skills in the list are from Palladium games, so you'll need access to the relavant game for the description of these. The revised version of Rifts® should have the Ranged Combat modifications, otherwise you need the version of Rifter® in which it was originally published. All of the remainder have been devised and written by me, and despite what Palladium think they have now power to usurp the copyright of any of these.

I do not use Palladium's default SDC/MDC™ system, but a DC system developed by another Rifts® GM. He developed this system for exactly the same reason as I was working on a replacement - the basic MDC™ system sucks and is unplayable. I also use a number of other significant modifications to the combat system, all of which are available on my Rifts® pages.

Introduction

The Year is 2020, The Month:- December, The Day:- Friday 4th. The Place:- Reading, England, Earth.  It’s not been a great year as you all know, a new pandemic, the lock down that followed, the slow unlocking throughout the summer, the second autumn lockdown. The localized lock downs as outbreaks sprang up and were dealt with.  But you’re all still here and with Christmas just around the corner, there is renewed hope. It couldn’t possibly get any worse, or could it?

Background

So you all live within 20 miles of the center of Reading(UK). Exactly where is down to you – Google may be your friend. Whether you work or not is down to you. Where you work is down to you, either in Reading or its surrounds, or in London.

Your age is a function of your career choices, although you can modify it upwards if you wish. Everything else is pretty much down to you. You’re a normal 21^st Century human, living in Reading, England.

What you do all need to work out is how you know one another, and what, if any, the relationships are between you.

Your finances are a function of your career choice, and your starting equipment is what you’d expect to be able to find in a normal suburban setting in 21^st Century England
