20: Not so Hidden Agendas! |
Introduction
I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas.
Tuesday's session marked the first part of Episode 2 of Season 2. There were a number of unexpected twists that didn't happen in the series including somebody dumping you all in the shit, exactly what the knockon of that is depends on how the rest of the events play out.
Ignoring one particualr complication which is partially of my own
making by having an additional character that wasn't in the original
series, although things would be significantly different if he'd bother
to heed all the warnings he was given, I still have to resolve how all
the events play out given that all the characters would have to be both
clairvoyant and telepathic to pull everything off as per the series. I
might have a way to make it work, we will have to see, and it will
require a number of you to play ball at the right time.
Just an FYI the title of Episode 2 is "Kill them All", which might
not be what you may think, there is a twist, and yes that is a hint for
one person in particular.
Wishing you an enjoyable New Year and I'll see you all on the
evening of Tuesday 6th.
Not so Hidden Agendas!
We pick up this week with some house keeping in relation to Shaddick's arrival.
There is then a lunchtime interlude where Nyx joins Two, Three, and Four at their
table and asks how their escape plans are going. Eventually they prompt
that there isn't an escape plan, they don't have enough information on which to plan.
Nyx notes that even were they to somehow to manage to overcome every single guard there is still no way off this rock other than by shuttle (I think a number of you forgot the trip to the Traugott Reseach Facility and the limited range FTL shuttle you took between the main world in the system and the Research Facility) and they never keep one down for very long because of this. However Nyx does have the schedule for the supply shuttle for the next month were they to be interested. They sort of ask what she wants, to which she replies "What do you think I want, it's not another comfy pillow and a hug goodnight!" At this point they don't trust her enough to agree on a deal.
The conversation is then interupted by the Head Guard who says "Good you're all
together, it'll save me having to come find you. You've all got a new
detail.. waste disposal." He rounds them up and escorts them down to the
waste processing room. The detail is simple, sort all the
recyclable material into the appropriate carts (by hand of course)
whilst everything else goes into the carts at the end of the
converyor. There is one full cart already, one half full, and a
couple of spare empty ones.
As the final cart gets to 2/3 full, another large, proverbial 6"10 brick shit house, prisoner enters. He crosses behind Two running his fingers through her hair before crossing the room to a door access control. Opening the door he says "come on. we're on the clock and haven't got all day, get those carts loaded" indicating that the full carts need to go through the door. The carts are not light but they can push one each into the room beyond. Almost as soon as the last cart is inside he hits the switch closing the door and trapping them inside the almost pitch black room, although it doesn't stay that way for long, as all the infrared heating elments switch on. The temperature begins to rise rapidly (note there is a significant elment of radient heat in this so you all feel the heat far faster than the room temperature actually rises). They make futile attempts to get out ... there is only one door and that's a blast door and there are no controls inside the room.
As they start to cook, the door suddenly opens and they stagger out.
Arax Nero and one of his goons are standing either side of the "brick
shit house". When they ask what was that Arax says "An unfortunate
accident, in a place like this they happen all the time." He looks
pointedly at the "brick shit house" who nods in agreement. Arax then
turns to Two, Four, and Three and says "walk away, get out". They leave
althoug Two stops to earwig the remainder of the conversation and
overhears Arax say "Tell Kaizon that those three are with me now." The
'brick shit house' responds with "Its your funeral".
A little more housekeeping completed we get into the meat of what Shaddick wants during the afternoon of day 3 where she holds sitdown interviews wirh Two, Four, and then Three. Unlike in the series no body commented on Shaddick supposedly wanting the 'Truth' even if it started a war between the Mega Corps, nor that what the GA were in effect doing was trying to enact some form of whitewash/cover up of the whole Eridan-3 ephisode, whilst trying the hang all the blame on the crew of the Razza.
After Three's sitdown he was expecting to be returned to his cell,
except the guards went the "wrong" way and he ended up in one of the
prison visit rooms, where to both his and her surprise Delany Traufett
(Mike Corp Commander) was waiting for him. Her inital comment was "I
was expecting Two but I suppose you'll do." After a little discussion
with Three sort of managing to get the "deal needs to apply to all the
crew" ask in, Three looks her in the eye, which is sort of what she
wanted, and is about to tell her to "go to hell" when her left eye
flashes for about 2 seconds and Three staggers backwards now suffering
an almightly headache. What is worse everytime he closes his eyes
images flash across his retina increasing his discomfort.
The guards take him back to his cell where he attempts to lie down to get some respite but this just makes things worse. He realises he needs to 'draw' what's in his head. With a not to subtle prompt he heads for Nyx's cell where he asks about "drawing materials". She says she can't help but would a lipstick do? She asks for 2 days rations but he trades a cabin on the Razza instead.
Lipstick secreted in a pocket he makes his way back to his cell now
looking for somewhere to draw. He realises that the solid base under
the matress is ideal. He begins to draw. It takes him about 40 minutes
to draw out the plans Traufett had given him. Drawing complete he goes
to fetch Two. She's somewhat unsure as to why he wants her to follow
him but does so, although it takes more than a little prod for her to
look under his matress. Effectively Traufett has provided a layout of
the prison, marking restricted areas, Security Control, and the main
Shuttle bay.
There is then a further short discussion relating to triggering the
riot protocol and Two theoretically being able to recover sufficiently
quickly to then overpower one of the guards and may be acquire his key
and weapon (remember all the on-duty guards carry stunners). [GM Note:
if you're going to over power a guard you likely want to do it out of
sight of anyone else, so that will likley be in your cell, which means
"playing dead" until the right moment.. and yes that is a very big
hint....]
