We were joined by another Amberite, by the name of Isocrates last night, arriving in much the same manner as Kohaku had, evoking much the same response from my mother, and suffering much the same consequences as a result. I am not sure Damon's query as to his health, assuming I interpreted his comment correctly as he does have such a strange turn of speech, was of much benefit to Isocrates at that time if his reaction was anything to go by. However, he did gratefully acccepted the pills I gave him, although I don't think he actually recognised them for what they were.
When he recovered a little more he set about asking my mother a similar set of questions to those Kohaku asked. I'm not sure that my mother's answers were the ones he was looking for at the time, and it being the early hours of this morning by that point she suggested he sleep on it, which enabled us to do likewise.
Certainly by this morning he was in a better frame of mind and requested to go outside when he could use the Pattern to examine the parameters of shadow as a precursor to walking through shadow, although he assured my mother that he was not ready take that step just yet. Like Kohaku I very much get the impression that they view fixing the Pattern as their own personal challenge, something that only they can accomplish. I fear they are not thinking straight, for as my mother tells the story her father died in the act of restoring the Pattern the previous time it was damage and he had had centuries in which to amass the necessary power and experience, but like me they are very new to their abilities, and compared to him we are but infants. Perhaps if we had this mysterious book that my mother insists Dworkin has, things would be much clearer, but until we can find him we will continue to be at a loss, and I fear that until one of them can use the pattern with sufficient power we will not be able to find him.
