Whilst Allanon sleeps off his spell casting exhaustion, having restored his armour, Kohaku indulges in a little training.
More training by both Allanon and Kohaku whilst they wait for Damon to awaken from his Pattern induced slumber. Allanon irritates both Benedict by asking if there's anything he can do to help with the siege (as if ) and Llewella by asking about using the Pattern with Sorcery.
Damon wakes in the early hours and with a little direction locates the toilets and gets himself some breakfast. He then waits around for the others to wake.
Allanon wakes first although it's not until he returns to his room that he finds out Damon is awake. He suggest that Damon takes a shower and gets some clean cloths before joining him and Kohaku for breakfast in the Mess.
With Damon awake they realize they've missed the incursion and the chance to find out what's happening with the others so decide to wait for the next incursion, in 2.5 days to contact Dierdre and find out what's happening. This means they get some time training.
Whilst Damon spends the day trying to Mind Walk the pattern and gaining head pains along the way, Kohaku and Allanon decide they want to test the limits of Pattern Defense. With Allanon as the victim guinea pig, and not helping his case by winding Static up and acting slightly aggressively to Kohaku, Kohaku gets Static to use her (?) electrical attack against Allanon's Pattern Shield. Not surprisingly (from a GM perspective) it stops the attack. Static annoyed by this darts around the edge as she can move faster than Allanon can with the shied up and zaps him again. There then follows an interesting interlude of Static zapping Allanon whilst Allanon makes idle threats, until Kohaku relents and orders Static, who's enormously enjoying herself, back to her Waistar.
Shortly before the incursion they all gather. Once the incursion begins, Kohaku extracts Dierdre's card from the trump deck and concentrates on it, not really knowing what is going to happen.
Eventually and cautiously Dierdre makes contact and explains a few things to her. She then takes control so that she can show Kohaku firstly how to form a gate, and then once the others have stepped through how to get through herself without leaving part of herself behind.
Having arrived at Dierdre's tower they find that Cordelia, Sorcha, and Fane have been there for some considerable time, which they've all put to use in reading the Book of Selheim, or at least the section they have. [GM note for Fane.... Cordelia reads the book considerably faster than either you of Sorcha, both of you taking about the same amount of time to read it]
With time remaining in the 13H they set to discussing what next .. As far as Cordelia is concearned that is hunting Dworkin in Undershadow. [GM Note. for those of you who thought that Cordelia couldn't cast the ritual you're mistaken ... the ritual is castable by anyone.. however playing out a major chunk of the story with the 2 major NPC's and one PC doesn't make any sense ... which is why the delay in waiting for Allanon, Kohaku, and Damon].
Once the Incursion ends Dierdre transports then all to the roof of the tower, and Allanon examines the ritual. With a significant prompt from the GM he gets everyone involved to link hands forming a circle such that he can drawn energy from all [GM Note - not the most efficient way but it works]. He notes that both Cordelia and Kohaku have a considerable bigger energy reserve than he does, although his is significantly better than Sorcha's, Damon's or Fane's.
He nearly loses the ritual at the end of the first cycle as he fails to buffer enough energy, but manages to pull enough from Cordelia and Kohaku, which in turn causes them problems .. some how it all just about hangs together. For warned now, he never done this sort of magic before, he buffers energy for the end of the second cycle, and again for the end of the third cycle, although this draw is more significant, and Cordelia, Kohaku, and him collapse as he completes it. It takes a few minutes for them to recover, when they can examine their surrounding.
