The Keep of the Thirteenth Hour

GM Session Logs - Session 15

Introduction

Owen was away this week so Alfred was in NPC mode. The majority of the session was quite quiet with Alan and Duncan trying to sort through the myriad of information they had. It ended on a more explosive note.

Castle Carnelian - Library

None of the elder Amberites are present. After a brief respite Allagahn and Charity decide to go and talk to Drasil. Fiona and Llewella are conversing in the center of the pattern.

Several hours go by as Charity and Allagahn try to clarify what Alfred told them that Ygg had said with Drasil. Cordelia has joined them during their conversation and they discuss some of the results and what they plan to do next.

It seems they want to find either Brand or Coral. Finding Brand directly may be difficult as it'll alert him to the fact that they are looking for him. They decide that since Brand took Werewendle from Bleys they'll search for Werewendle directly, but they need the true impression of the sword for that.

Fiona and Llewella finish what ever it is they are doing. Fiona joins the players. Charity asks if Fiona knows anything of Werewendle and if she can implant a psychic impression of the sword. She duely obliges.

Since Charity freezes during the 13H and there is no 13H inside the castle, Cordelia and Allagahn hell ride a short distance away to use Coral's trump to find her during the 13H. Cordelia finds the card warm and unresponsive, like the cards of Bleys,Random, and two other deceased Elder Amberites. She attemps a Trump Divination concerning coral and it indicates death. They return to Carnelian.

More discussions follow. Whilst they were away Charity attempted to pattern Search for Werewendle in the vicinity of the Keep of the 13H but couldn't find any trace of it. Either it was there and she couldn't detect it or it wasn't there. They decide to use the Pattern and the Trump of Coral that Cordelia has to go and find Coral.

Deep Shadow - Coral's Mansion

They arrive in a cramped dark basement. Alfred summons light. A headless female body lays slumped were it fell against a low bed. Blood spray indicates that the body was upright when the fatal blow was delivered. With great difficulty Charity and Allagahn bring up the pattern and examine the room. There are a lot of residual power signatures. Pattern and Sorcery are present plus two similar to each other and to Pattern but neither are Pattern. One is strongest around the body. There is also another power signature overlaying own of the 'similar to' pattern powers. Where the heavy door has been blasted through there is another signature that Charity recognises as Abyss. Allagahn finds a standard set of Amber Trumps in the room.

Examination of Shadow shows that it has been heavily modified. Trump and virtually all forms of technology and exposives will not work. Neither will any form of magic - the Shadow has none, yet sorcery has obviously been used. The shadow is also blocked to pattern, yet Charity and Allagahn have with considerable effort been able to use their pattern powers. When Charity switches to Abyssal sight she finds it much easier to use despite the fact she is less skilled in it.

Searching the rest of the building, they find themselves in what once was a well apointed manor house. They find several more bodies and evidence that a young child resided here, yet no child can be found. In an upstairs bathroom they find a head, probably female which has its right eye missing.

All the evidence points to the fact that Coral is dead and Brand now has the Jewel of Judgement.
