Heroes of the Hour - Allanon Silver

Allanon's Diary

Date: 07/09/2150 Location: Amber

Finally Amber. What mysteries would lie waiting for us here? What enemies? And most importantly what if any answers?

Having prepared a few flight and cloak spells I feel somewhat slightly more reinsured that a quick getaway wont be completely impossibly, as long as no one stops/removes my spell.

Just as a precaution I prepared a few offensive spells, I don't want to particularly start casting any spells in enemy infested area, but if push comes to shove I have have no other choice.

Cordelia explained there are only a few options to getting to the Castle, and each one with its own issues. I offered my assistance, stating that I could cast a flight spell on myself and others who need it.

After a short debate and reassuring her that the flight spell would work, it was decided that we would take to the cliffs and I would cast my flight spell so we could all fly to the castle/Cordelias tower.

I do hope she would think of me in better light after my assistance but I extremely doubt it. She seems like the type of person who wouldn't,t thank anyone even if that person saved her life, instead she'd look at it as she owned someone a debt. Also I doubt she'd thank me after the few mistakes I have made, especially after that idiot Isokretes keeps underestimating and disbelieving in my magic. In my fustration I stupidly cast an ice bolt to the deck, which caused the wood to freeze and crack. A few of the crew slipped on the ice but no one was hurt, I think isokretes was surprised to say the least and dodged out the way nicely, while Cordelia gave me one of those condescending looks as if I did something incredibly stupid.

I knew I had, but it was incredibly fascinating dealing with someone so incapable of understanding how things work and so...... Prehistoric. If it weren't for his mental aptitude as his only major benefit, I would have opted to leave him behind. Despite this he decided he should go to the next town rather than staying with the party, URG that imbecile, what if we would need his one of few abilities.

Nevermind, nothing can be done about it now. I just hope he doesn't get himself and Daemon killed, as it stands we are in enemy territory, and I hope he does not forget that as it could end up being the end of him, especially if he encounters the demons during his travels.

So we part ways with Isokretes and continue our journey, climbing up a mountain amongst tree cover. I felt quite at home here, strangely. All my training and some missions that had required stealth and tracking left me with feeling confidant, though I was more worried about some of our party.

Cordelia I had the feeling she would be fine, knowing how she climbed the cliff made me to believe she was physically in shape, sorhca and Kohaku I was more worried about, but both seemed to be handling themselves just fine.

In fact Kohaku seemed to be dealing with the terrain better than myself! What in gods name is her world like or her life style as this Mogwai trainer to build such endurance!

After some time hiking, I sensed something approaching, we stopped briefly. I went to investigate and found it was just Fane and Mikato. FYI Mikato knew where I was, seems his sense of smell is spot on. I would like to test the advanced parts of my cloak spell to see if Mikato would be able to smell me still.

I also found some interesting information about Sorcha. Apparently her farther are from the courts of chaos but her farther was exiled. And she has no interest in going there knowing this.

I also found out from Cordelia that apparently I can only use certain pattern abilities here in Amber, seems like only things that do not directly manipulate this shadow work here. Though I doubt any of us are proficient enough to use any of the abilities that would be of any use. I also found out how to hellride, but it seems hellriding itself is difficult and has its own restrictions. But at the least I know the basics, which are to keep a small group of this the same and change everything else.

Seems Fane doesn't like me casting spells in his company, I probably get the same reaction from most of the party but if any of them decide to ever be truthful then maybe I wouldn't need to resort to casting to get the answers.

When we arrived at the plateau of the cliff, we could see Amber castle. Although blocking it or more accurately almost protecting it was a blue barrier. Corderlia suspects this was the pattern. It's interesting, I wonder why or how this happened?

Maybe this could be the effects of the broken pattern, or perhaps this is just how the world always was but we can only now truly see it because of the pattern being broken. Either way Cordelia believes the barrier is the pattern and therefore we are left with no other choice but to wait until the incursion ends so the barrier will hopefully disappear. Hopefully!

Which it did, thankfully and I preceded with casting a fly spell on Cordelia, Kohaku, Mikato and myself. I instructed them how to manoeuvre while flying and I would have cast a fly spell onto Sorcha but it seems she has the ability to transform into a flying demon. Handy, Fane decided to copy. Strangely suits him, better than his pale form at least. Also there were some broken steps on the plateau, Cordelia said that they are supposed to be like that and the lead to the dream city and it only appears on a fuller moon! hmm interesting, she also divulged there's a reflection of the pattern there amongst ghosts.

What nonsense, ghosts. They DO NOT EXIST. None the less I will not argue as it's not going to get us anywhere, and we have more important business to deal with.

I hope we don't get caught flying, at least I have one way of getting away safely, hopefully.
