We finally decided on a plan to get into the castle by scaling the walls. We were forced to abandon the "thirteenth hour" plan by the fact Charity would be left alone and a giant energy shield which a prevented things entering or leaving the castle during that time. We decided the "carry a prisoner over your shoulder" approach was too obvious, so snuck in the dead of night.
That was about as much as the plan catered for. We snuck quietly through the patrolled castle looking for the library. We decided that if we were noticed by anyone, we would attack without hesitation and as quietly as possible. With that agreed, we were discovered about 5 minutes later – Sorcha tried to bluff her way out of it, the guards shouted the alarm, Charity ran like hell, Alfred followed Charity, then Sorcha and I attacked the guards. We managed to dispatch the four guards quite quickly and ambushed the reinforcements that were on our floor.
Unfortunately we had lost sight of the Charity and Alfred, so I led Sorcha around the first floor, trying to evade the guards. I tossed a chair out the window to make them think we had left and we proceeded into the library to hide. I positioned myself up the chimney of the large fireplace, however Sorcha was reluctant to follow. She preferred a more erratic approach, ranging from, hiding behind a chair, sitting in a chair, hiding in the shadows and trying to give away my hiding place by talking loudly to me while tapping on the fireplace. I was not overly impressed! There was plenty of room for both of us to hide there, but she had an almost unfathomable objections (possibly to soot!).
A pitched battle ensued when the guards discovered Sorcha, she fought them out of the library and did no one returned. This gave me plenty of opportunity to search for the "Book of Selheim". I couldn't find it anywhere and I was surprised hours later by the return of a patrol to collect the bodies from earlier. I killed quite a few of the guards, however I sustained many injuries and was eventually forced to surrender.
I was beaten unconscious and thrown in the dungeon, which is where I sit now. I am not sure how to get out of here, but I am forming a number of plans. I will attempt to pattern search or scry for Charity and her "orac" and perhaps Cordelia (who we have seen evidence of in the area). If this works, they may detect the attempt and discover what has happened to me. If that fails, I will attempt to pattern search for my sword, if I do manage to get out of my cell, I will probably need it. The only other alternative I can see at the moment is attempting to attract a guard into the cell, just prior to the 13th Hour. This is risky as I may risk another beating, or worse. This requires a good distraction, a lot of luck and of course, the occurrence of the 13th Hour.
