A Rude Awakening

I have returned home urgently from a campaign upon the news that my father has gone missing. An investigation was launched immediately, but it seems no one has any information about his whereabouts. It is made a little more unsettling by the fact he disappeared from a space station after excusing himself from a board meeting. No evidence of foul play has uncovered and video evidence shows he simply walked out of view of one camera and did not appear again in the next. Within minutes a sweep of local space for unidentified objects was conducted, as well as scans for a transponder, embedded under the skin. All proved negative.

I have too much confidence in my fathers fighting abilities to believe something untoward happened to him in such a short period of time, so my only conclusion is that he prepared his own departure in detail and cannot be found as he does not wish to be found.

Since the birth of Callaighn, he has acted strangely and was very suspicious of his mother, although he did not meet the woman. He questioned me at length about everything she said and her appearance however he never shared with me his thoughts on the matter. From this point onwards he had spoken about my succession to leader of the Dark Hearts and redoubled my training routine. He continued to lament my pre-occupation with strategy and tactics and lack of attention to swordplay.

With campaigns on going throughout the galaxy, the men are now looking to me to replace my father. Although it has only been a week since his disappearance, we cannot afford to let our attention wander, awaiting his return, so I will run the company as he would run it himself.
