After a good long sleep I awoke feeling better. Tonight are the balls.

The ball was a terrible affair. All formal and stiff. Looking about I found that there was also a disco in a separate room off the ball room. I ended up there. Much more fun. Did not really like the music though. Too much modern pop music. Just thump, thump, thump. I asked the DJ but he did not have any ‘Tears of Darkness’ or ‘Faith of the Foolish’ music. He had heard of ‘Sisters of Mercy’ but refused to play it. Apparently it is not good disco music. That, I feel, is a personal matter.

Most of the people where from the ‘Youtube’ whatever that is. They were all gamers and that is all they really want to talk about. Boring!! Apparently they are famous in some way.

There was ANOTHER ball to go to but back Carnealian.

The Carnealian ball was just as boring as the other one. The people were older that the first ball.

I did dance with a couple of the men. One was Cordilia’s husband and one was her father. I feel sorry for them having to put up with the bitch. They were both nice men.

The younger people went to the pool and swam naked. I did not join them. These people have no modesty. Different social norms I would assume. Something that I do not think I will get used to.

Tomorrow we are going to go travelling with Charlie. I have asked my PA to assemble a set of survival/camping equipment.

I also asked Siobhan about the walking the pattern again. This can be used to travel to remote locations and also may be used to remove unwanted pregnancies. Apparently young fetuses cannot survive the pattern but this does not affect the mother. I am not sure of the ethical nature of this.

This give me an idea. I wish to go and see my parents. I could use the pattern to travel to my home. I could then use the trump card to return to the mansion. I have asked Cordelia if I may do this. I am sure my parents are very worried about me and I wish to let them know that I am still OK. Also I wish to ask them about my conception.

I went to my home. I asked my parents about my conception. My mother was crying. I tried to comfort her and for some reason I was able to experience my mother’s memories. She was raped. My father used some kind of mind domination to overwhelm my Mothers will and rape her. I am the product of a violent and hateful act. My mother then freaked out and started throwing things at me. My father told me to leave. I was devastated by this rejection but my parents must have been shocked by the awakening of my powers. I do not know why I was able to experience my mother’s memories. I am going to have to go and speak with my parents again when they have calmed down.

Because of the disastrous meeting with my parents I got rather drunk that night. Siobhan came over and was very nice to me. I shared the memory with her. Apparently may father is Raif. This just makes things worse. Raif was the one who started the war in Amber that I do not really understand yet. He also murdered Siobhan’s husband. Will the rest of these people judge me on who my Amber father was? Am I now at risk of being killed by Cordelia? I hate him and everything he has done. He is a murderer and a rapist. I wish I could be not related to him. I wish I was not one of these Amber people. I would give up the power to be just Joanne again.

Next morning we went to the castle that is close to the manor. We were given horses and some equipment. This included a rifle that I have avoided touching. I helped the other people who were unfamiliar with riding. I bought a pack of equipment with me but not as much as Charlie. Many of the other people only have the clothes they stand up in. I hope the weather is good.

Apparently to shadow walk you just change pattern parameters. It looks easy to do but I bet it is not!

Charlie is able to change pattern parameters very fast to either move us through shadow or to find something in shadows.

We went looking for some money and ended up mixed up with some kind of battle. I had no idea why one group attacked the other one. Lots of people were killed. How horrid. I cast my healing spell on some of the survivors.

It would appear that there is some kind of kidnap plot involving a bound daemon. Charlie freed the Daemon who left this shadow. There was some kind of magic user who was involved in local crime.

Renn got shot and I used my healing on him. It stopped the bleeding but Renn was still a mess. He used his Trump card to go back to the mansion.

I broke an illusion that Casimir found but by this time I was really knackered. We found a castle. The others went in but I stayed at the door being too tired to follow them.

We apparently managed to rescue the princess.
